The co-founder of UMS with Jim Morrison, John joined British Gas straight from school in the early 1980s. John’s area of expertise was the construction and maintenance of gas distribution networks, and in the early 1990s he was a central figure in the site trialling and assessment of Rotamole, British Gas’ new guided moling system. John and Jim worked together on the Rotamole project, and realised that there were significant opportunities for the new ‘no-dig trenchless’ technology in the wider utility and construction industries.
Andy joined UMS as General Manager in August 2006 having previously worked for Mowlem and Carillion. Andy has a wealth of experience in water industry projects located throughout the United Kingdom including water mains rehabilitation and replacement, leakage detection and repair, district metering (DMA) and major meter installation programmes. This broad spectrum of projects has allowed Andy to develop a detailed knowledge of different contractual arrangements and, more importantly, the critical value in clearly defining and understanding each client’s specific requirements and objectives.
